Oasis - Heathen Chemistry Sessions

This collection of demos and alternate versions dates from between 2000 and 2002, in the years leading up to what is widely regarded as their worst album, Heathen Chemistry. However, this collection doesn't include many of the songs that dragged that album down, and as a result is still an enjoyable listen. The only complaint you could really have is that there are repeated versions of songs, and The Hindu Times alternate intro version is near-identical to the one on the album. Still, some excellent songs here, notably the very different demo of The Hindu Times and a cover of Slade's Merry Christmas Everybody (quite fitting I'm posting this on the first day of December!). I originally got this from Jim's excellent Big Brother Recordings blog a few years ago, so credit must go to him. The excellent artwork was done by a guy called Jake. Link is my own, enjoy!

The Hindu Times (Demo)

Oasis - Be Here Now - The Complete Acoustic Collection

Apologies for the lack of posts on this blog recently, but hopefuly this can go some way towards making up for it. I must admit this blog is starting to look strinkingly similar to Jim's excellent Rkid blog, but in my defence I have been working on putting this together for the past few days and would be a waste not to post it! Anyway, this is a complete (or as near to complete as anyone could want!) record of all the acoustic sessions and live performances done by Oasis in the Be Here Now era of 1997-98.  Unsurprisingly the vast majority of these are sung my Noel; there is only one Liam sung track although it is the excellent 'Live By The Pool' version of Stand By Me. There are too many excellent performances of classics on here to pick highlights, but one thing I would say is this is not for the casual fan due to the sheer volume of music and multiple versions of several tracks. For anyone else though, this should be a very worthwhile download.

Oasis - Standing On The Shoulders Of Giants Demos

This is the first proper collection of Oasis demos after 1994, and is probably my favourite of all the Oasis demo compilations as all the songs here (bar Little James) are sung by Noel, meaning some different versions of songs.  Most of the songs here were on Standing On The Shoulders Of Giants; however, Carry Us All, Just Getting Older and As Long As They've Got Cigarettes In Hell were all B-sides, and Revolution Song has never been released. The version of Let There Be Love is very different from the one eventually released in 2005, and is also known as It's A Crime. The sound quality on these demos is excellent. Recommended for any Oasis fan, serious or not. I originally got these from Jim's excellent blog, which you can find here.

01 : Fuckin' In The Bushes
02 : Go Let It Out
03 : I Can See A Liar
04 : Put Yer Money Where Yer Mouth Is
05 : Who Feels Love?
06 : Little James
07 : Revolution Song
08 : Carry Us All
09 : Where Did It All Go Wrong?
10 : Gas Panic!
11 : Sunday Morning Call
12 : Just Getting Older
13 : (As Long As They've Got) Cigarettes In Hell
14 : Let There Be Love
15 : Roll It Over

Oasis - Noel Gets To The Point (Live 1997.12.04)

Another download from the mighty Oasis. This was a 'Liam-less' gig from 1997, at the height of the bands popularity. Due to Liam's absence, this gig is entirely sung by Noel, meaning rare Noel-sung versions of songs! The sound quality is excellent, as it is a soundboard recording. Highlights from this excellent set include Be Here Now, Magic Pie (yes, really!), D'You Know What I Mean (Acoustic) and Live Forever, although there is not a bad song here. This is one of my favourite bootlegs of all time, a great setlist and the different versions of well-known songs make this a near-essential download for any serious Oasis fan.
1 Be Here Now
2 My Big Mouth
3 Some Might Say
4 Roll With It
5 Magic Pie
6 Don't Look Back In Anger
7 Stand By Me (Acoustic)
8 D'You Know What I Mean (Acoustic)
9 Whatever -  All The Young Dudes (Acoustic)
10 Don't Go Away (Acoustic)
11 Fade In-Out
12 Cigarettes & Alcohol
13 The Girl in The Dirty Shirt
14 Live Forever
15 Wonderwall

Oasis - Definitely Maybe Demos

Another early demo collection from the mighty Oasis, this being the last proper demo collection available until  the SOTSOG era (watch this space!). There are quite a few different demo collections labelled Definitely Maybe demos or sessions; I have a shorter version with a slightly different tracklisting on my computer. However, this seems to be the most comprehensive collection available, although I think there may be some tracks on the version I have that aren't on here so will look into that soon. All the tracks here are officially released in some form or another, so no real hidden gems unfortunately. This collection is made up of assorted demos, promos and alternative versions, and should be a worthwile download for any serious Oasis fan.
01 : Rock 'n' Roll Star (Instrumental Mix)
02 : Shakermaker (Demo)
03 : Live Forever (Demo)
04 : Sad Song (Different Mix)
05 : Cigarettes & Alcohol (Instrumental Mix)
06 : Alive (8 Track Demo)
07 : Columbia (White Label Demo)
08 : Supersonic (Instrumental Mix)
09 : Fade Away (Demo)
10 : Cigarettes & Alcohol (Demo)
11 : Slide Away (Instrumental Mix)
12 : Married With Children (Percussion Demo)
13 : Rock 'n' Roll Star (Longer Outro)
14 : Whatever (Original All The Young Dudes Ending Clip)

Oasis - Whatever Demos

Another early demo collection from Oasis, these recordings were made after those on The Early Years bootleg. Liam unfortunately still has his 'old' style of whiny singing. This collection is much less exhaustive than the previous one posted, but some would argue less essential as there are no lost or unreleased tracks here; every one of these was released either as a B-side, single, or was included on Definitely Maybe. Nothing really exceptional here, just ok versions of some great songs. Only really worth downloading if you're into Oasis and are starting to dig deeper.
1 Digsy's Dinner
2 Live Forever
3 Up In The Sky
4 D'Yer Wanna Be A Spaceman?
5 Whatever
6 Alive
7 Cloudburst
8 Bring It On Down
9 Rock 'n' Roll Star

Oasis - The Early Years

A pretty much comprehensive collection of Oasis' various demo recordings between 1992-3. 17 songs here, including some that made it on to Definitely Maybe or were used as B-sides, and some that would never be heard of again. Liam's voice is still quite whiny and reedy here, nowhere near as good as heard on the debut but interesting all the same. The songs mostly range from ok to good, with the one exception being the rather bad Life In Vain (apparently written before Noel joined). Worth downloading for the unreleased songs or just if you're curious. Link is my own.

1. See The Sun
2. Must Be The Music
3. Better Let You Know
4. Snakebite
5. Rock 'n' Roll Star
6. Strange Thing
